First and foremost, I am a child of God. My faith has been the foundation upon which my life has been built, sustaining me through every chapter, season, challenge, and blessing.

I have been married to my husband for 43 years, and together we have been blessed with a family that now includes five children, 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Faith, family, hospitality, service, and advocacy have never existed as separate compartments in my life. They have always been woven together.

For more than 20 years, I have served as an educator, advocate, and REALTOR®. Long before I ever held a title, advocacy was already part of who I was.

Standing up for the underdog came naturally because, for many years, I was the underdog.

Life taught me early that hardship can either make a person shrink back or rise up. I chose to rise. I refused to live as anyone’s victim, and that mindset eventually became part of how I served others. Whether helping families pursue homeownership, encouraging someone through a difficult season, mentoring, teaching, or simply opening my home to others, I have always believed people deserve to feel heard, respected, and valued.

Hospitality has never simply been something I did. It is part of who I am.

Over the years, I have welcomed thousands of people into my home and had the privilege of housing more than 200 individuals, anywhere from a single night to nearly two years. Opening my door has always been about opening my heart.

What I Discovered Behind the Scenes

After serving on the Appraisal Review Board of my local Central Appraisal District, I gained a firsthand look at how the property tax system actually functions behind the scenes.

What I discovered was concerning.

The average homeowner was expected to navigate a highly technical process involving deadlines, valuation methods, evidence requirements, exemptions, and appeal procedures that many did not fully understand. Too often, property owners entered the process feeling overwhelmed, intimidated, and underprepared before they ever walked into a hearing room.

The more I learned, the more I recognized the imbalance. Many homeowners were facing one of the most financially significant processes affecting their lives without fully understanding the rules, the language, the evidence, or even the options available to them.

I realized that God had been preparing me all along — through education, advocacy, real estate, and service — for this next chapter.

The Birth of the Property Tax Justice Foundation

That realization led me to pursue my license as a Texas Property Tax Consultant. While waiting for the licensing process to be completed, conversations with trusted friends began shaping something much larger than representation alone.

We recognized that what most homeowners truly lacked was not intelligence or effort, but access.

Access to understandable guidance.

Access to clear information.

Access to someone willing to explain the process in plain English without talking over people or making them feel embarrassed for asking questions.

We also recognized that many financially struggling homeowners were quietly falling behind under the weight of increasing property taxes, rising valuations, and confusion surrounding the system itself.

Out of those conversations, the vision for the Property Tax Justice Foundation was born.

THE MISSION

To educate, empower, and impact homeowners by helping them better understand the property tax system, properly present their property’s unique story, and pursue fair and equitable taxation with greater confidence, clarity, and dignity.

OUR VISION

A Texas free from property taxes — and until then, a Texas where no homeowner loses their home because they did not know how to challenge an unfair or inaccurate property tax assessment.
